You have read about, and discussed in class, the President Andrew Jackson’s Indian Removal Act of 1830. While most historians have seen it as one of the low-points in American history, others have seen it as, perhaps, preventing the wholesale destruction of the eastern Indian tribes. Read the four articles linked and comment on take a stand – was the Indian Removal Act a despicable action taken by greedy people or did it ultimately help Native Americans? Also, should Jackson be on our currency? As always, read all of the articles, use specific examples, and reply before midnight on March 23.
